Think-Pair-Share to Practice Simplifying Expressions

Think-Pair-Share to Practice Simplifying Expressions: Seventh grade teacher Tanya Kaplan asks her students to practice simplifying expressions using a think-pair-share strategy. In an effort to practice using distributive property, Tanya requires students to first attempt the problem independently (think) before comparing their expression with a partner (pair). Once partners have agreed on a simplified expression, they share with the class by writing their response on small white boards. Tanya is able to quickly assess student understanding and leverage peer tutoring opportunities to both give students practice and immediate feedback.
